Hi, I’m Xinyan Feng, a 3D illustrator and toy maker based in Los Angeles, originally from Suzhou, China.
I build characters, puppets, and small worlds by hand, then photograph them to tell stories. My work sits between illustration and making—where an image isn’t just drawn, but physically built, arranged, and lit.
Working with materials is an important part of how I think. I enjoy figuring out how things hold together, adjusting structures, and solving practical problems as I build. I often spend time refining details, even in places that might not be visible, because I care about the honesty and completeness of the object.
I’m especially inspired by stop-motion and practical effects. Through texture, light, and composition, I try to create work that feels cinematic, slightly strange, and alive.

Studio Peekaboo is centered around Peeka, a small pink dragon I created as an ongoing character and companion.
The studio functions as a growing world where characters, sets, and stories slowly take shape.
